The Ukrainian Research and Academic Network (URAN) was created under decision of the Ministry of Education Ukraine and National Academy of Science of Ukraine with the support of Ukrainian universities in accordance with a join resolution on June 20, 1997. The main concept of the Network was approved by an International Meeting of institutions of higher education and science, with participation from representatives of the scientific department of NATO (April 24-26, 1997 Kiev).
