HKI (Himpunan Kimia Indonesia, Indonesian Chemical Society) was founded in February 1962. Today, it is a nonprofit, independent academic society that facilitates communication among Indonesian chemists and related professions, and promotes the advancement of chemistry research, education, and application. HKI is supported by its members in 15 branches across various provinces in Indonesia.
HKI holds various academic conferences, publishes several journals, supports the development of scientific information systems in Indonesia, and organises training for chemists in various sectors. HKI also provides recommendations to the government and other institutions on issues related to the development of chemical education, chemical research, and applied chemistry.
