The purpose of this study is to determine the increase in student's achievement in the subjects of accounting after implementing cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in class X AK 1 SMK Negeri 1 Surakarta academic year 2012/2013. This research is a classroom action research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. The research was conducted by involving researchers, accounting teachers, and students. The data Sources used in this study include informants, place of research, events, and documents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and testing. The testing of the data validity uses triangulation techniques and triangulation methods. Analysis of data uses qualitative data analysis techniques that are divided into 3 components: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that through the application of cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) can improve student achievement from pre-action to the first cycle I to cycle II. Since Learning process before the action centered on the teachers so that the students are not fully involved thereby it influenced the student understanding that makes their achievement reduce. The student improvement occured in cycle I. The student activity and achievement increased, although not optimal. The implementation of the second cycle higly increased the students achievement. Conclusion of this research is that the application of cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) can improve the student achievement in accounting subjects in class X AK 1 SMK Negeri 1 Surakarta in 2012/2013.
