: This study aims to determine implementation, role ofthe principal,and factors thataffect the implementationof quality improved of school based managementin school empowerment. To achieve these objectives, this study uses a qualitative approach. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The procedure of data analysis is data reduction, data display, and verification. While the subject of research is the principal, vice principal, and teacher. The results showed that: (1) Implementationof school based managementquality improvement done through: (a) stages ofsocialization, (b) formulation ofvision, missionandschool goals, (c) involvea number ofeducational resourcesfor theachievement school progam, (d) doSWOTanalysisof educationalprogramsthat have beenimplemented, (e) preparation of plansandprogramsto improve qualityof work, and(f) implementationprogram andevaluation; (2) The principal's rolein implementationof school based managementis enabledproperly, only educationalaspects ofpersonnelmanagementandfinancialmanagementandfinancingrolehas notrunoptimally; and(3) Dominantfactoraffectingthe implementation ofschoolautonomy on school based management quality improvement includebudget managementandmanagementhas not beenimplementedin a transparentandaccountable.
