The Implementation of Genre-based Approach in Teaching English at the Second Year of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur.

The objectives of the study were: (1) Describe the procedures used by the teacher in teaching English based on Genre-based Approach; (2) Describe the types of the classroom activities using Genre-based Approach; (3) Describe the problems faced by the teacher and the solution in teaching English using Genre-based Approach. The population of the research is the second year students of English department of UMKT in the academic year of 2018/2019. The samples were from one class. In taking the sample, total sampling approach was used. The data in this research were information about the teaching strategies and difficulties faced by the teacher on teaching English based on GBA and also the difficulties faced by the students of second year at UMKT. In collecting the data, it was taken from the sources by employing observation interview, and document. There were three main components of analyzed data, namely: (1)Reduction of Data; (2) Display the Data; (3) Interpreting. The research finding of this study were: (1) The Procedure of Teaching English: By GBA, the teacher feels easier to deliver the material; (2) Classroom Activities: Based on the implementation of School-based Curriculum in teaching English, the teacher conducted several classroom activities that consist of four cycles, namely BKOF, MOT, JCOT, and ICOT; (3) Problem faced by Teacher: The problems are the student's difficulty in vocabulary and pronunciation, teacher's difficulty in manage the time. To solve this problem the teacher should give more attention to the students that less in capability rather than general students.

The Relationship Between Motivation, Satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment Among Scout Volunteers in East Kalimantan, Indonesia

The existence of volunteerism could be observed from several aspects in various communities as it is functioned as presented action with intention to help others and expect less material compensation or monetary advantages. Volunteers working under organizational context rather than working alone, they provide two services namely service for the society. this study has several emphasizes that arranged into several objectives namely; to determine the level of motivation, satisfaction, and organizational commitment, to determine the relationship between motivation and organizational commitment, to determine the relationship between satisfaction and organizational commitment, to determine the relationship among dimension and organizational commitment, to determine the best predictor dimension for organizational commitment. The present study is using quantitative research design, therefore it used descriptive as well as inferential statistic to analyze the data. According to the findings, regression model fit the data (F=10.280, p<.05). Based on the interpretation on the value, it could be decided that only understanding dimension (t= 2.531, p<.05) had significant contribution to the organizational commitment among scout volunteer in East Kalimantan.

Students' Difficulties in Translating Narrative Text From English Into Indonesia at Grade VIII of SMP Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar

                This research was intended to find out kinds of students difficulties in translating narrative text from English into Indonesia of SMP Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar. Therefore, the researcher formulated a question as the problem. As follows: “What are the students difficulties in translating narrative text from English into Indonesia of SMP Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar?” The researcher was used qualitative design. To answer the problem, the researcher used grade eight students of SMP Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar as the population and used 31 students as the sample, they were VIII-1. The instrument of the research of this research was narrative text. The data were collected by using record video of mobile phone then to be analyzed the result of students' translation and correction. The research finding showed that students were difficulties in translating narrative text from English into Indonesia. The highest number of students' difficulty is tense (32%). The second most difficulties faced by students is sentence (25,4%). The third difficulty is phrase (16,6%). The fourth is clause (15,4%). The fifth difficulty is attribute (8,2%). And the last is indefinite article (2,4%). It can be conclude that students have difficulties in translating narrative text from English into Indonesia is tense, not sentence, phrase, clause, attribute, and article indefinite.
