The Reproductive Cycle of Puntius Binotatus on the Middle of the Raining Season

Spotted barb (Puntius binotatus) is one of tropical fish in Indonesia freshwater, which has high economic value. To maintain the stock in nature, information about the reproduction cycle in the mid raining season is required for conservation so that we can control the catch of spotted barb. This study aimed to examine the effect of raining season on GMS, GSI and GI's male and female. Observation methods were used as a tool to collect the data. The result of the research showed that a variety of GMS, GSI and GI's male and female. Quantity of oocyte primer 423; 664; 480; 380; meanwhile that quantity of oosite secondary oocyte 73; 172; 411; 230. Result of water quality measured in the river as temperature 28-30oC, pH 6,8-7 and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) 3-3,4 ppm. The gonad weightgreatly influenced the rate of GMS, GSI, and GI in determining fish reproductionwas interrelated and directly proportional. Increasing of GMSwas affected by the increasing value of GSI and similarly the GI value which is directly proportional with increasing of GSI and GMS. The reproductive cycle of gonadal maturity spotted barb increased during themid rainy season.

Effect of Periodic Fasting on Growth and Feed Efficiency in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium Rosenbergii, De Man 1879)

There are obstacles in the aquaculture business that is still often facedbyfarmers, one of the challengesisthe high price of commercial feed. Feed as an energy source for growth is a reasonably high-cost component in production that reaches 40-89 %. In the control of food for efficiency, it could be done by the fasting method. This research was aimedtoanalyze the effect of periodic fastedofgiant prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii de Man, 1879) against growth and feed efficiency. This research was conducted at IBAP Installation, Probolinggo District - East Java Province. The experimental method used completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications, such as; P0: feeding without fasting (as control), P1: a-day fasted, a-day feeding, P2: a-day fasted, two-days feeding, P3: a-day fasted, three-day feeding, P4: a-day fasted, four-days feeding, P5: a-day fasted, five-day feeding. The results showed that periodic fasted of M. rosenbergii no significant effect on the daily growth rate, absolute weight growth, and feed efficiency. However, by looking at the rate of growth, thisfasting methodcouldbe used as an alternative to saving feed. The P5 showed the most effective in increasing daily growth rate, absolute weight growth, and effectiveness of giant prawn feeding. The strategy of periodic fasted to increase the production of giant prawns should consider the other supporting factors such as ideal water quality (pH, temperature, and DO), proper stocking density, and feeding periods on schedule.

Effectiveness of Extract Songga Wood (Strychnos Lucida) Towards Survival and Antibody Titers on Tilapia (Oreocromis Niloticus) That Infected Streptococcus Agalactiae

Nile Tilapia or Tilapia Fish (Oreochromis niloticus) is one of commodity with a high number of consumers. But, Streptococcus agalactiae attack caused a decline in production. One way to reduce these diseases by using natural materials of songga wood (Strychnos lucida R.Br) where the songga wood contains many compounds like alkaloid, phenols, flavonoids, triterpenoids, which can inhibit bacterial growth by damaged cell membrane. The results showed that the inhibitory songga wood extract against Streptococcus agalactiae was highly significant, and shows with the highest survival rate of 90% and proved by theincreasingantibodytitersafteraddingsonggawood extract.
