- Anemia is an important health problem worldwide with 51% of pregnant women being doubly anemic compared with nonpregnant women. The cause of iron nutritional anemia is mainly due to the lack of iron. Dates (Phoenix dactylifera) are often referred to as foods that can increase hemoglobin levels due to high iron content. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of date palm extract on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia. The research method used quasi experiment or intervention study with one group pre test - post test method. The population in this study were TM II pregnant women with anemia. The sample size is 11 respondents. The statistical test used was Wilcoxon test with 95% confidence level. The results showed that the average hemoglobin level before administration of date palm juice was 9.6 gr / dL, whereas after the giving of the average palm juice of 10.6 gr / dL. There was significant effect (p value 0,004 <0.05) giving of date extract with hemoglobin content of pregnant woman with anemia.However, the results of laboratory tests on substance levels in dates palm juice are low. The study concluded that palm juice can increase hemoglobin levels in pregnant women and using supplements increases hemoglobin levels. Sari dates are not a food source of iron.Keywords - Anemia, Hemoglobin Levels, Date Palm, Pregnant women

Identifikasi Bioaktif Golongan Flavonoid Tanaman Anting-Anting (Acalypha Indica L.)

– Indonesia is a megabiodiversity country, but only about 8% of its plant diversity are utilized as food, medicine, timber, and ornamental plants. One plant species that potential to be used as a medicinal plant is Acalypha indica. Previous research showed this plant extract has some antibacterial activiting against Salmonella. However, the profile of the metabolites contained in the plant is not studied yet. Fractination of the metabolites was done by using paper chromatography in ethanol extract (roots, stems, and leaves) of Acalypha plants using BAW (butanol: acetic acid: water = 4:1:5) and 15% acetic acid eluent. Number, location, color, and Rf values of spots were used for identification of flavonoids class. Maximum absorption wavelength performed using spectrophotometry assay to confirm the flavonoid class. The three major plant organs (roots, stems, and leaves) have different compounds distribution, but with almost same class. Class of flavonoids which were identified from the three organs are isoflavones, flavones, flavonols, flavanones, dihidroxyflavonols, chalcones, and anthocyanidins. Leaf has more diverse flavonoid class than roots and stems. Keyword – Acalypha indica bioactive compound, chromatography, flavonoids.

- This paper reports the development of a fire detection detection device for closed room. The device detects and locates the present of fire in a room. Location of fire or heatsource is defined as relative distance to the sensor. The development was limited for USAge within closed room with normally controlled temperature. The device was developed using a minimum system on microcontroller ATMega16, array heat sensor TPA81 and LCD display. The prototype introduced was firmly successful in detecting and locating a single candle within 0.5 m distance and 180 degree angle scope, assuming the device to be planted on a wall in a room.
