Peran Antioksidan Bagi Kesehatan

Antioxidants are needed to prevent the occurrence of oxidative stress, which plays an important role in the etiology of various degenerative diseases. This paper discusses the benefits of antioxidant. This article was made with prior search of references using search engine Schoolar Google with key words antioxidant, oxidative stress, Alleaceae, N-acetyl cystein, vitamin C and degenerative disease. Mechanisms of resistance of the body to fights oxidative stress is through endogenous antioxidants. If the amount of free radicals and reactive species in the body exceeds the ability of endogenous antioxidants, the body requires the intake of antioxidants obtained from foods or drugs. Antioxidants are commonly consumed daily as a spice in cooking is onions. Synthetic drug commonly used as antioxidants include N-acetyl cysteine and vitamin C. Alleaceae and N-acetyl cysteine containing thiol groups / sulfur that act as antioxidant. Organosulfur role in cancer cells is through the mechanism of apoptosis. Both N-acetyl cysteine and vitamin C in animals induced oxidative stress using carbon tetrachloride, showed they play a role in the prevention of oxidative stress. Alleaceae, N-acetyl cysteine and vitamin C plays a role in the prevention of degenerative diseases due to its antioxidant properties.

Metode Nucleic Acid Test Untuk Uji Saring Virus Hepatitis B Pada Darah Donor Dengan Hepatitis B Occult

HBsAg is the primary screening at the Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) in Indonesia. Blood with HBsAg negative still have potential to transmit the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection. To improve blood safety, examination needs to be done is the detection of HBV DNA in window period. This study aim to determine the NAT can detect HBV DNA positive in blood donors with Occult Hepatitis B (HBO). A cross-sectional study on 4973 blood samples from the donor 4 UTD: DKI Jakarta, Tangerang district and municipality, Depok. Examination of HBsAg, anti - HBc, anti - HBs done UTD while NAT, quantitative and qualitative PCR, performed at the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology . Quantitative and qualitative PCR performed to measure viral load that is used as a confirmation of HBV were detected by the method of NAT. A 20 of 4973 subjects (0.4%) had negative results and NAT multiplex HBsAg positive. 16 of the 20 subjects of HBsAg negative and positive discriminatory NAT. Results of the examination of anti-HBc anti-HBs negative and positive / negative feedback only one subject (6.25%), 9 samples positive anti-HBc and anti-HBs negative (56.25%), the results of anti-HBc and anti- HBs positive 5 samples (31.25%). The results of qualitative and quantitative PCR obtained three samples (18.75%) are not detectable, 6 (37.5%) samples showed results of a high viral load and 7 samples (43.75%) showed low detection. The NAT assay which was performed as a screening of donor blood parameters are effective to detect HBV DNA in blood donors with HBO.Key words. Hepatitis B occult, Nucleic Acid Test, Blood Donor

Perilaku Bertelur Nyamuk Aedes Aegypti Pada Media Air Tercemar

The theory is believed that the mosquito Aedes aegypti does not like laying in a pool of contaminated water. However, some studies indicate a change in behavior of these mosquitoes breed. Authors conducted follow-up analysis of a descriptive study to determine whether the mosquito Aedes aegypti willing to lay their eggs in different media polluted water and polluted water knows that most preferably Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to lay eggs. Advanced analysis of R & D performed in Loka P2B2 Baturaja with the type of non-intervention and observational studies using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan test. Software used SAS 9.1. Analysis of variance showed that different types of water media have a real influence on the preference of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes lay their eggs on the 5% significance level with p-value of <0.0001. Cow manure contaminated water is the most preferred medium of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes lay their eggs.
