English as a foreign language make students in Indonesian faced some difficulties in understanding the meaning and structure of language. This condition also happen at MA Al Huda Sumber Nangka Pamekasan. To overcomethis basic problems, so teacher need a good method in their teaching process especially in speaking that is have an important roles in mastering language. 2013 curriculumrevision implemented High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) method. The purpose of this research is to know the factors that affected students low mastery of English and to describe headmaster and teachers point of view about the implementation of HOTS method in students mastery. The research design of this research was used descriptive qualitative. Researcher used observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation asinstrument in data collection. After got the data,researcher analyzed the data by using Miles and Huberman. The result showed that factors which make students have a low speaking ability are students attitude, motivation to study well and also lack of parental supervision of students learning outcome. Headmaster and teacher very appreciate with the implementation of 2013 curriculum revision in order to increase education quality. It can be prove that students speaking skill at MA AlHuda better than before by using HOTS method.

The Effect of Booktrack on Students Reading Comprehension Ability

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Booktrack on listening to students in reading comprehension skills. Booktrack is a free web application that synchronizes digital books with audio, producing a deep reading experience. The sample of this study was class VII of Junior high school AL KAHFI SEPULU as an experimental class and as a control class that consists of 20 students. The method in this study is a quantitative method. In addition, the design used was pre-experimental research, and the instrument was tests. This research was taken using non-random sampling. In addition, this research was carried out through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatment and giving post-test. Data were analyzed and processed using ANCOVA statistical data calculations by the SPSS 23 program. Significant shown by the average post-test of students in the experimental class was 50.00 and the post-test average in the control class was 48.00. The results of the statistical hypothesis test was 0.021 from the p-value. This was lower than the significant level of 0.05. If the p-value <of the significant level is 0.05. This means H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. In conclusion, this Booktrack media is effective as a teaching medium to improve reading comprehension in grade VII students at Junior high school al Kahfi Sepulu.

The Symbolic Meaning of "Punakawan Javanese Wayang" (a Value Imaging Study in Character Education at the Character Education Course in STKIP Bina Insan Mandiri Surabaya)

This study aims to examine the image of figures of clowns in Javanese puppetry in order to enhance the values ​​in character education of students in the world of education through symbolic meaning. This proves that education without character and character has been considered to fail to educate the nation's children. Many school graduates and scholars who are good at answering exam questions, have intelligent minds, but mentally weak, timid, and behavior is not commendable and do prohibited acts. With image theory and symbols in the puppet the author conducted an analysis to examine the image of the clown who then got the symbol of punokawan in Javanese wayang. This study uses interpretive descriptive methods and literature using image and symbol theory. The research used in this study has the purpose of understanding the phenomena experienced by the research subject. The results of this study can be formulated that the image of figures of Javanese puppets is symbolic, ie clowns in Javanese wayang as servants who have exemplary attitudes (honesty, fairness, not giving up / despair, and a high sense of nationalism) that are very necessary and implied in the value of character education. Character education in the subject of character education for students, especially students of STKIP Bina Insan Mandiri Surabaya, is more encouraging to be socialized to all academics so that they can create a generation that is of good quality in terms of intellectual, personality and character in the future.

Students' Behavior on Blended Language Learning

Integrating face to face and online learning are growing rapidly. Recently, blended learning is a model of learning that able to enhance and optimize learning. This paper describes learners' behavior in the implementation of blended learning through the University's Learning Management System (LMS). This model is the combination of face-to-face and online learning which consist of many applications such as student voice recording, user roles, courses, students' assessment, discussion forum, and internal communication. The intensions of this study is to observe the students' behavior on language learning implemented by blended learning model. We further attempt to understand the students' behavior, attitude, and achievement. The participants of this study are 37 students from the first semester of Informatics Technology (IT) department. The students were taught in blended learning approach by using ‘eBelajar'. Based on the results of the implementation of blended learning in the teaching and learning process, the researchers found that blended learning was more effective and efficient educational experiences rather than face-to-face learning. The findings of this study also showed that students were satisfied with the use of blended learning in the teaching-learning process, and their academic achievements were also better than expected. It is suggested that the teachers and students can use blended learning for others subjects in order to make the teaching-learning process more alive and make the students feel enjoy in joining the learning processes.
