The acute toxiciy of two extract from methanolic and n-hexane of Carica papaya L. leaves have been investigated. Flavonoid extractedfrom methanolic extract and steroid extractedfrom n-hexane extract , which these have antiinflammatory effect. The acute toxicity test of extracts were investigated on rat after giving a single dose of samples by observing their influences on behavioral responses (pharmacological profile), the development of body weight and mortality for 14 days. The results of acute toxicity test after giving the two extracts to males rat showed that until a dose of 1000 mg/kg bw was no animal died and significant toxic effect. Therefore LD50 of the two extracts on rat were higher than 1000 mg/kg bb. In the studyantiinflammatoryeffectsinwhiterat withcarrageenaninduced1%, methanol orn-hexaneextractwas administeredorally in doses of200, 400mg/kgbw andpositivecontrol (indomethacin) with 10mg/kgbw dose and negative control withCMC1%. According to the SNKteststatisticalmethod analysiswithα ≤0.05,suspensions of the methanol extractsandn-hexane dose of 400mg/kg bw have sameantiinflammatoryeffectwith10mg/kgbw indomethacinsuspensionwhich both have more antiinflammatory effectthandose 200mg/kg bw suspensions of the methanol extractsandn-hexane.
