Abstrak

MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF LEAD OXIDE- THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER COMPOSITE. Research on microstructure and mechanical properties of lead oxide-thermoplastic elastomer compositewith Pb3O4 as lead oxide. Thermoplastic elastomer synthesized from natural rubber as the elastomer and methyl metacrilateas the thermoplastic and irradiated simultaneously with optimum gamma ray. Thermoplastic elastomer (NR-PMMA) grind in alaboplastomill and Pb3O4 was added in varied amount of 10%, 30%,40% and 50%wt The results showed that mechanicalproperties (tensile strength and elongation break) decreased as the Pb3O4 composition increased. Microstructure from SEMobservation showed that Pb3O4 distributed evenly and having function as filler in composite
