This article attempts to explore the influences of
globalization and capitalist economic system to Indonesian Muslims' perceptions about endowment (waqf) in Indonesia. Some important issues discussed in this study include (1) pros and cons over money endowment. Money as commodity and as means of exchange; (2) the wordings of endowment transaction regarding high valued objects, such as plane; (3) productive endowment: between reform or optimalization and endowment with tabarru' or economicbusiness transaction; (4) the change of endowment: between sale and exchange of endowment; (5) between relative (mu'aqqat) and eternal (mu'abbad) endowment and (6) intellectual right property as
endowment: to keep work (knowledge) or to spread it. This article examines the original concept of those topics or issues above from the point of view of fikih literature and majority Muslim jurist and analyzes how globalization reshapes Muslim perceptions on such issues.
