Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara (UISU) is an Islamic College in Indonesia and the oldest on the island of Sumatra. The Islamic University of North Sumatra was founded on January 7, 1951, and was the first university that stood outside of Java which was spearheaded by prominent Muslim youth at the time namely Bahrum Djamil, Adnan Benawi, Sariani AS, Rivai Abdul Manaf Nasution, and Sabaruddin Ahmad.
