Abstract

This research aims at investigating the difference of learning motivation and mathematics learning achievement of students following problem-based learning and those following conventional learning. 93 fourth grade students of primary school in Cluster I Buleleng regency were chosen as the sample. This research used post test only control group design. The data learning motivation were collected using questionnaire and the data of learning achievement were collected using multiple-choice test. The validity test of the questionnaire and test were analyzed using Cronbach's Alpha and KR-20. The hypotheses were tested using MANOVA. The result of the research shows that: first, there is a significant difference of learning motivation between students following problem-based learning and those following conventional learning (F=58.671 and sig.=0.000; p<0.05); second, first, there is a significant difference of mathematics learning achievement between students following problem-based learning and those following conventional learning (F=15.438 and sig.=0.000; p<0.05); third, there is a significant difference of learning motivation and mathematics learning achievement between students following problem-based learning and those following conventional learning (F=35.359 and sig.=0.000; p<0.05).
