The background of this study is to learn from student difficulties in written explicitly. Because students have Poor vocabulary. Without good vocabulary have, can not take good writing. Improve vocabulary needs a dictionary. Dictionary is helping to understand the students to understand the meaning of words. On this basis, the examiner makes a Thematic Visual Dictionary media. Thematic Visual Dictionary is media textbook Lowe 2 support that has the pictures and example sentences, students help understand a word. Formulation of the problem in this research is " How is the process of preparing Media Thematic Dictionary Illustrated as supporting textbook Lowe 2 on learning German to improve writing skills in SMAN 1 Krian?". The purpose of this study is to describe the process of form for Thematic Picture Dictionary media.
Nature of this study is the development of investigators with qualitative descriptive use a development model by Sadiman. Media Development validated by German lecturer and German high school teachers and 12 students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Krian language program validated as respondents media.
The results of this study show that the Thematic Picture Dictionary media use is good. Starting meet some of the following criteria: 1) The average result of media expert validation is 90% with the evaluation criteria "very strong" and validation of expert material is 92.5% with the assessment criteria "very strong". 2) Students' response to media Thematic Illustrated Dictionary of 87.5% with the criteria of "very strong". Based on these results, we can conclude that the Thematic Picture Dictionary media can use when writing expressly learning of students.
