Abstract

 
 
        The spiral sleeve is an sleeve that in the process of sewing is sewn in a circle like a spiral forming a tube "where the sleeve will be". The spiral sleeve is the development of the lantern sleeve. Lantern sleeve pattern by Muliawan (2012: 59) adding panel width 2 cm. The aim of this research is to know the effect adding panel width 2cm, 3cm and 4cm to the result of spiral sleeves on bolero made from taffeta and so to know the highest mean result adding panel width 2cm, 3cm and 4cm to the result of spiral sleeves on bolero made from taffeta of in terms of flatness of sleeve, panel shape, shape stability, and volume of spiral sleeves. This type of research includes experimental research. Data collection using observation sheet (check list) by lecturer of fashion and fashion students who have programmed the construction course of fashion patterns and draping with 33 observers. Data analysis used in this research is single anova test using SPSS 23 program with p ≤ 0,05. Anova test shows that there is a significant effect of adding panel width of 2 cm, 3 cm, and 4 cm to the result of spiral sleeves on bolero made from taffeta in terms of stability of shape and volume. But there is no effect of adding panel width of 2 cm, 3 cm, and 4 cm to the result so spiral sleeves on bolero made from taffeta seen from aspect of flatness of sleeves and panel shape. Duncan test shows that there is a difference mean in the addition of panel width of 2 cn and 4 cm in spiral sleeves results in bolero made from taffeta in terms of stability of shape and volume. In the stability aspect, the highest mean value was obtained in the addition of panel width of 2 cm, ie 3.03 with good category. On the aspect of volume obtained the highest mean value on the addition of panel width of 2 cm, ie 3.15 with good category.
