The level of representation of women in formal political institutions is still so low that it is difficult to influence the policy and guard the implementation. There are Laws regulating women's representation in Politics but it has not worked completely. In fact, the number of women are more than 50% of the total population of Indonesia, which means that women are a very important group whose political interest needs attention. Therefore, through this Policy Brief, WRI gives some proposals for revision of the Election Law no. 10 of 2008 with respect to achieving a quota of 30% women representation in Parliament, one of which is the determination of sanctions for political parties that do not apply the 30% quota for women as candidates.
