Background:In Indonesia Angka Kematian Ibu/AKI or Maternal Mortality Rate and Angka Kematian Bayi/AKB or Neonatal Mortality Rate are still pretty high. About 90% of Maternal Mortality Rate causes happened at and after labor process. One of the most important problem in society to access a proper labor by paramedic in health facilities is insufficient fund so that the government tried to ease labor cost by giving Jaminan Persalinan (Jampersal) or labor insurance. But if the goals of Jampersal could be achieved, the number of Indonesian residents would be increased as well. In the other side, Indonesia had a population control problem. Therefore, it is needed to study the effect of Jampersal towards family planning participation.Aim : To know the effect of Jampersal ( Labor Insurance) toward family planning participation.Methods: This study is an abservational analytic study with cohort retrospective approach in which the samples are mothers who gave birth in RSUP dr Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten and lived in Karanganom Klaten area. The number of sample is 50 people collected with convenient sampling method.Result: The stastictical multivariate analysis showed that there had no effect between labor insurance towards family planning participation without considering confounding variable. There had an effect between labor insurance towards family planning participation considering the knowledge of family planning level (p=0,01), education level (p=0,009), occupation (p=0,009), and economic status (p=0,009). Husband involvement had an effect towards family planning participation with probability score as high as 84.5%.Conclusion: There had no effect between labor insurance towards family planning participation without considering confounding variable Labor insurance had an effect towards family planning participation considering the knowledge of family planning level, education level, occupation, and economic status. Husband involvement had the most significant effect on family planning participation.
