This research aims at investigating the effect of recitation method and achievement motivation on English writing skill of eighth grade junior high school students. It was an experimental research of the post-test only control group design. The population of this research was 238 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Mendoyo with the sample of 88 students. The data were collected using English writing skill test and achievement motivation questionnaire which then were analyzed using two-way Anova. The result of the research shows that: (1) English writing skill of students following recitation method is higher than those following conventional method,, (2) there is an interactional effect between recitation method and achievement motivation on English writing skill, (3) for students having high achievement motivation, the English writing skill of students following recitation method is higher than those following conventional method, (4) there is an interactional effect between recitation method and achievement motivation on English writing skill, (3) for students having low achievement motivation, the English writing skill of students following conventional method is higher than those following recitation method.
