Analyzing the Implementation of Bantuan Operasional Sekolah or School Operational Fund and the Public's Interests in Free Basic Education. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has recently issued an educational policy, the so-called Bantuan Operasional Sekolah known as BOS or School Operational Fund. This article presents the results of a descriptive study on the implementation of the School Operational Fund in the regency of Gunung Mas, Central Java. The data were obtained through survey on the spot, document analysis, and interviews. The results show that School Operational Fund has increased the interest of the public to send their children to primary schools. This has been indicated by the results of the interviews with a number of school principals and students' parents (guardians) in the area. However, the interest to send children to primary schools was more significant than that to junior high schools.
