Burdah was composed by Egyptian poet Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Bushiri (d. 1295). This study uses qualitative method to explain what people see in the community of Setiris Muaro Sebo District Muaro Jambi, which this tradition is a common occurance. The study shows that the villagers of Setiris believe the recitation of Burdah will grant readers pleasure. For the readers and listeners of Burdah in the area, the content of Burdah accepted with the diverse understanding. Some citizens got the meaning directly when they listen or recite the Burdah, but many of them do not understand and just went along with the tradition. In fact, even if there's a believe that if you read or listen to Burdah your wishes will be granted by the higher being, but of course not all the wishes of the people implementing the Burdah tradition came true, but nevertheles reading and listening to Burdah is still a strong part of people of Setiris's religious life.
