Good physical fitness in elderly women is very important in the activities of daily living and independence. Good physical fitness in elderly women is also important to avoid diseases and fault injury. A cross sectional study has been carried out for 6 months, from August 2002 to February 2003. The study was involving 128 elderly women aged between 55 to 64 years old, in five Health Centers from five areas in Jakarta Province. The Elderly women became a subject of study were whose physics are healthy and the postures of their bodies are normal.The elderly women that fulfill the requirement of the study were measured joint flexibility, body weight, body height, body mass index, total body fat. Body mass index and total body fat are categorized into lack, normal, and excess. Flexibility is compared to the category of body mass index and total body fat.The study shows that elderly women have average body mass index of 25.04. The total body fat are ,in general, normal, that is 24%. The joint flexibility of elderly women is found less than normal, that is 9.15 cm, and is even found negative flexibility. Meaningful joint flexibility of elderly women is not significantly different in various categories of body mass index and total body fat (r = 0.071, p = 0.731). The joint flexibility of elderly women is not significantly different in various body composition.
