Abstract

The aimed this experiment to study nutrient digestibility of ettawah crossbreed goats fed field grass basal diet supplemented with rice bran, has been conducted at Tabanan Bali, for four month. The completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replicates was used in this experiment. The ettawah crossbreed goats bodyweight gain 15.9kg ± 1.34 kg. The tested treatments were A (control) = field grass a/d, B = field grass + 75g rice bran/a/d, C = field grass + 150g rice bran/a/d and D = field grass + 225g rice bran/a/d. The animal access to ad libitum field grass and water. The animal fed one a day rice bran at seven in the morning. The variables which were observed including dry matter feed consumption, nutrient digestibility (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein and crude fiber), pH, VFA partial and ammonia concentration of the rumen fluid. The result of this experiment showed dry matter feed consumption and dry matter intake on the treatments B, C and D were significantly higher (P<0.05) than treatment A. The water consumption the treatments A and B were not significant (P>0.05) difference, but water consumption on the treatments C and D were significantly higher (P<0.05) than treatments A and B. Dry matter and crude fiber digestibility on treatments A and B were not significant (P>0.05) difference, but on the treatments C and D were significantly higher (P<0.05) than treatments A and B. Organic and crude protein digestibility on the treatments B, C and D were significantly higher (P<0.05) than treatment A. pH on the treatments A and B were significantly higher (P<0.05) than treatments C and D. The acetate, butyric and ammonia concentration of the rumen fluid on treatments A, B, C and D were not significant (P>0.05) difference, but the propionate concentration on the treatments B, C and D were significantly higher (P<0.05) than treatment A. From the result in this experiment it can be concluded that the supplemented rice bran 75g-225g on the effect to increased the nutrient digestibility of ettawah cross breed goats fed field grass basal diet. The suggestion in this experiment that the supplemented rice bran to increased nutrient digestibility of ettawah cross breed on fed field grass.
