Abstract

This quasi experimental research aims at obtaining information on the improvement of reasoning and mathematical connections through the application of STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software.The population of this study was the students of a high school in Lebak Regency, while the sample consited of three classes. Two classes were assigned as experimental group, one class was treated with Trigonometry material through STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software (E1) and the other class treated through STAD cooperative learning model without Geogebra software (E2). Meanwhile, the third class was assigned as comparison or control class, treated with Trigonometry material through direct learning model. Essay test and observation were administered prior and after the treatment. The result shows that (1) there were differences in mathematical reasoning ability between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software and those treated through STAD cooperative learning model without Geogebra software, (2) there were no differences in mathematical reasoning ability between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model without Geogebra software and those treated through direct learning model, (3) there were differences in the mathematical reasoning ability between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software, and those treated through direct learning model, (4) there were differences in the mathematical connections between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software and those treated through STAD cooperative learning model without Geogebra software, (5) there were no differences in mathematical connections ability between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model without Geogebra software and those treated through direct learning model, and there are differences in the mathematical connections between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software, and those treated through STAD cooperative learning model without Geogebra software, (6) there were differences in the mathematical connections between students treated through STAD cooperative learning model with Geogebra software and those treated through direct learning model.
