Abstract

The goal of learning process in schools is that all students can achieve satisfactory learning outcomes. One of the factors to improve students' learning outcomes is teachers' professional competence and student motivation to learn. This study is aimed at: 1) analyzing the effect of professional competence of teachers on students' learning outcomes, 2) analyzing the effect of students motivation to learn on students' learning outcomes, and 3) analyzing the effect of teachers professional competence and student motivation to learn on students' learning outcomes at the Accounting Program of Vocational High School I of Jambi. The population in this study were 423 students majoring in accounting. The sample was 50% of the total population selected by proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were obtained by questionnaires and analyzed by using simple linear regression equation and multiple Pearson correlation formula. The results shows that: 1) there is a positive and significant effect of teachers' professional competence on students' learning outcomes at 86.9%, 2) there is a significant effect of student motivation on students' learning outcomes at 90.6%, and 3) there is a positive and significant effect of teachers' professional competence and student motivation to learn on students' learning outcomes at 94.4%.
