Pharmacists assure that patients have all supplies, necessary information and knowledge of medicine to carry out the medicine therapy plan. Pharmaceutical cares consist of medicine managing and medicine information. The pharmaceutical cares will work well if patients realized that the pharmaceutical cares, especially the medicine information is important and take it as the pharmaceutical main care need. For the reasons, patient needs and wants for the pharmaceutical cares at dispensaries had been studied. This was a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The study was conducted during 19th to 24th May 2003, at 3 (three) dispensary in North and East Jakarta. There were 270 patients selected. Data were analyzed quantitatively. Results of the medicine information needs compared with other pharmaceutical care factors at dispensaries. From the 270 respondens at the 3 (three) dispensaries showed 6.1% patients realized needs for medicine information that was lower than the needs for quick services, 28.4%, for medicines availability 21.80%, and for availability of facilities at dispensaries, 31%. It concluds that patient priority for medicine information services was lower than other pharmacy services. It needs a special attention and socialization from the pharmacists to patients on pharmacy services, especially about the benefit of medicine information services.
