Abstract

This research is motivated by the minimum writing learning in elementary school. Generally, students still find it difficult to express their ideas and concept in making short stories. The purpose of this study is to identify the differencesskills between students who use imaginative multiliteration writing model and students who use genre-based writing modelin writing short story. The research method is quasi experimental, particularly the matching pretest-posttest design. The population in this research is the fourth grader of elementary school in cluster II of Tanjungsari sub-district even semester of academic year 2016/2017. The sample used in this research is the fourth grader students at SDN Babakan Bandung as the experimental class and SDN Maruyung II as the comparison class. Based on the research that has been conducted, the researcher obtained the average score of pretest of the experimental class and the comparison class are 69,30 and 70,67. The mean posttest of the experimental class and comparison class are 82.82 and 77.43. From these results, the data are obtained from the population that are normally distributed and homogeneous so that the calculation is continued using independent-sample T-test. The significance value is 0.029. Since the significance value is below 0.05 then H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is a difference of short story writing skill between experiment class and comparison n class. Increasing students short story writing skills in the experimental class using an imaginative multiliteration writing model is better than increasing students short story writing skills in comparison class using a genre-based writing model. Therefore,imaginative multiliteration writing model can be used as an alternative learning model to increase students' skills in writing short stories
