The role of education must be more thorough in coaching not only onlearning outcomes, but also the attitudes and behaviors that must be possessed by thestudent specially vocational students. Responding to the need to be the education thatcan change its attitude towards the better because it will also be related to an effecton student learning outcomes. Lessons need to be applied should be able to cover thewhole for the achievement of learning outcomes as well as shape the attitudes ofstudents characterized by using character education. No less important to determinethe learning method is to use an independent recitation and method of characterbasedgroups recitation. Application of the method aims to increase student activity,student responses and student learning outcomes. This study used subjects in class XI TKR 4 SMK PGRI I Sidoarjo with theobject of research methods group recitation and recitation method using characterbasedindependent Classroom Action Research (CAR), which has several stages of theplanning, execution, observation, and reflection. Research carried out the training ofthe subject is Overhoul cooling sistem by using descriptive qualitative andquantitative methods. Student learning outcomes can be achieved if students score ≥78 and ≥ 80% classical completeness. The method is effective is the method that has alarger classical completeness.The results showed students' response to the recitation method was 81.67%and independent recitation method was 78.18%. The average percentage of studentactivity group recitation of the method was 82% and independent recitation methodwas 78%. the results of students' mastery of the methods of recitation learn group was91% and was 85% self-sufficient recitation. Group recitation method is more effectivethan self-recitation method it can be seen from a classical completeness obtained.
