Abstract

Speaking is one’s activity which leads to accepting sound phase to produce meaningful sound combination, in mother tongue and foreign language. In foreign language studies as in Dutch, there are elements which influence students’ speaking skill, such as lack of vocabularies, lack of confidence, lack of practice and students’ different style in understanding and associating information in a lesson (Mulgrave dalam Tarigan (2008:16)). Some methods which have been applied have not optimally worked. Therefore, ‘SAVI” approach (somatic, auditory, visual and intellektual) is used in this research. SAVI approach is a method which combines physical movement, intellectual activities, and all senses application bringing huge influence in the teaching process (Dave Meier, 2002:91).                 The state of problems in this research is “ How is Dutch speaking skill outcomes through SAVI approach (somatic, auditory, visual and intellektual) based on the learning style of class X.10 at SMA Negeri 11 Surabaya? while the purpose of the research is to find out Dutch speaking outcomes through “SAVI” approach  (somatic, auditory, visual and intellektual) based on the learning style of class X.10 at SMA Negeri 11 Surabaya.                 This research is a qualitative research. This research begins with a test to students in purpose of finding out students learning style. The data is collected from students learning outcomes in portofolio. The data is described and then is concluded. Based on data analysis, it is concluded that students with visual learning style get better speaking skill when visual test model is given than the auditory test. On the contrary, students with auditory learning style get better speaking skill when auditory test model is given than the visual test. It is proved that in a speaking test, students with visual learning style are able to describe picture. In details correctly, while students with auditory learning style are able to describe audio in fluent and correct pronounciation. Therefore, synchronizing lesson and students’ learning style is important, because learning style influences students’ learning outcomes.   Keywords             : Learning Outcomes, Speaking Skill, SAVI Approach, Learning Style
