Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the teacher's activities and student's activities during learning process using documentary film media at social studies, to describe the students result after learning process using documentary film media, to describe the motivation of students in social studies learning and to resolve the problem during social studies in learning process using documentary film media. This research using class act research method and apply qualitative descriptive research. This research has 3 cycles and every cycle has planning, applying, monitoring and reflcting. The subject in this research is the students of fifth grade SDN Simomulyo I Sukomanunggal Subdistrict Surabaya which consist of 36 students with amount of male students are 16 students and females are 20 students. The technic of collecting data using observation method, result of the study, and questionnaire. Data analysis technique applied in deskriptif kuantitatif analysis has observation, test and quesioner. The result of this research shows that teacher activities during learning process is increase for 3 cycles with total percentage 75% at the first cycle, 83,75% at the second cycle, 95% at the third cycle. The student's activities is increase for 3 cycles with total percentage 69,44% at the first cycle , 77,77% at the second cycle, 91,67% at the third cyle. The result of student's learning process also increase during for 3 cycles with total percentage 63,88% at the first cycle , 77,78% at the second cycle , 88,88 % at the third cycle. The respond of student's learning also increase with total percentage 76,52% at the first cycle, 81,57% at the second cycle, 96,31% at the third cycle. The conclusion is by using documentary film media it can increase teacher and students activities, students learning result and concept comprehension, and students respond at social studies subject in the fifth A grade of SDN Simomulyo I Sukomanunggal Subdistrict Surabaya.
