Based on observations in SDN Sidoarjo especially in the fifth grade, showed that activity in the learning process is still dominated by teacher talk, not to carry out active and creative learning. In addition, students were simply told to read the book material alone, without any help learning tool or media used in delivering teaching materials. This resulted in less maximum learning outcomes achieved by students. So in this study, researchers selected one of the media who helped raise the effectiveness of the learning process and student motivation. Is an achievable goal, describing the activities of teachers and students during the learning process by using the media puzzle IPS as well as describe the learning outcomes of students in the use of media puzzle. This study uses data analysis techniques with qualitative and quantitative approaches to obtaining data through observation and testing methods. The data obtained were analyzed and presented in the form of qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The experiment was conducted in three cycles. The results showed that by using the media puzzle can improve student learning outcomes with the average values ​​obtained in the first cycle of 67.64 (58.82%), the second cycle of 75.29 (70.59%), and the third cycle amounted to 85.00 (88.24%). In addition, the results of the study also showed an increase in activity of teachers, student activities, student affective, and psychomotor students. It can be concluded that the material struggle against colonial leaders can be taught by using the media puzzle because it can improve student learning outcomes in learning.
