Culture in Japan which is still popular is Manga. Otaku in this case is someone who is very fond of something. The object of their madness is like manga, anime, games and all sorts of others. This study uses qualitative research methods with symbolic interactionism of George Herbert Mead. In this study is investigated human experience and understanding of what it otaku through the description of the study participants, so that researchers can understand the life experiences of participants. This research was conducted at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA), in the Japanese Language Education Study Program. Data collection techniques gained through observation, in-depth interviews (in-depth interview) by using the interview guide. In the world of Japanese fans, there is a pattern of interaction is indicated by the Otaku and Weaboo. Fans of the things about Japan, would often meet at Japanese festivals are often held by various university and some of the existing community. Both inside and outside Japan festival, the weaboo will still show if he is a fan of Japan, is inversely proportional to an otaku who just act casual and not too excessive.
