Orality and writing: a perspective for alphabetization and literacy in Timor-Leste

Abstract

The present paper brings a new concept on orality and proposes a perspective of literacy that starts from the oral tradition, which performatively explores the playful texts of this genre field, detailing its mnemonic and aesthetic resources. This approach propose a kind of circularity between what we call corporalidade and literary texts (authored and orally) as a strategy for a literacy process that, in addition to allowing fuller access to the local language and culture, favors the desire to read texts longer and more complex.
