Abstract

This Study aims to improve (1) teamwork skill, and (2) Social studies learning achievement. The Subject is 20 students of class VIII F of Junior High School I Piyungan, Bantul at the first semester in the academic year of 2013/2014. The data were collected through observation, tests, and fied notes. The data were analyzed using the quantitatif descriptive technique. The results of the study are as. (1) There was an improvement in the students' teamwork skill after the apllication of the Jigsaw method by picture and pictured article media. In cycle I, the students' teamwork skill wich good criteria is 65% and increases into 90% in cycle II. (2) There was an improvement social studies learning achievement. In cycle I, through picture media and grouping based on academic achievement, the average learning achievement was 73.75 and the learning achievement mastery was 50%. In cycle II,through pictured article media,grouping based on academic achievement and gender variety, the average learning achievement was 84.75 and the learning achievement mastery was 95%.
