Generations in the era of industrial technology 5.0 are required to have higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The 2013 curriculum requires the existence of HOTS both in the implementation of learning activities and the assessment of learning outcomes. Teachers must be able to create and develop HOTS questions. There are still many teachers who do not have a good understanding on how to develop HOTS category questions. This service aims to provide teachers with an understanding of the nature of HOTS and the development of HOTS category questions in the field of mathematics. This activity was held in Tanjungpinang 7th Public Middle School and was attended by 38 MGMP Mathematics Teachers of Tanjungpinang Middle School. The series of activities namely; (1) Strengthening participants' understanding of the nature of HOTS category questions, its characteristics and function of HOTS category questions; (2) Guiding participants in compiling and developing HOTS category questions; and (3) Evaluation of the implementation of activities using a questionnaire instrument. The results show that there was an increase in teacher understanding of the development of HOTS category questions. Furthermore, the participants claimed to be more motivated to develop HOTS category questions mathematics subject for junior high school.
