Abstract

Tomato is one of popular cash crops in Sipirok regency. Donsiroha is one of farmer group which cultivated tomato frequently. This farmer group produced tomato in high volume, while the income they were got is lower. The farmers income is high when the price is good, while the farmers are experiencing loss when the price are lower. Dried tomato candied is one of innovation that could adopted by farmers in order to minimize the loss due to fluctuation value. However, the innovation is not easily adopted by the farmers, it will depend on the income they got from having the innovation. This is the basis of the author to do a research study on the comparison of the income of farmers selling fresh tomatoes and candied dried tomatoes at various prices of tomato. The research was conducted by collecting primary data (farmer, trader dan producer of dried tomato candied) and secondary data (related stakeholder).  Data were analyzed by using farm analyst and presenting on tabulation form. Base on the researched that has been conducted, it is indicated that the farmer who sold fresh tomato were experience loss when the price of tomato is 3000/kg. The feasible income for tomato farmers is when the price is 5000/kg. The farmer who produced dried tomato candied getting the income which totally different of tomato price. The income is higher when the price of tomato getting lower.
