Analysis of Teaching Basic Skills of Stundent at the Subject of Biology Learning Process Practice

Abstract

Professional teacher is teacher who is able to educate, teach and train their student well and directed. To be a professional teacher, then a candidate teacher should be equipped with adequate education. Before they become a teacher, all candidate teachers are trained and equipped with matters that related to the teaching profession in a Field Experience Programme. However, before the students as candidate teachers implement the Field Experience Programme, students are prepared in advance by training of skill basic teaching. In order to study the basic skills of teaching, it is necessary to conduct research on the level of mastery of basic skills of teaching students. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of mastery of basic skills of teaching students, in the subjects of Biology Learning Process Practice, Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Mandira Catholic University, Academic Year 2016/2017.This research is a quantitative descriptive research with ex post facto approach. The instrument used to measure the level of mastery of basic skills of teaching students is an instrument of basic teaching skill assessment. Data were collected by observation method and analyzed by descriptive quantitative.The results showed that the average ability to open the learning and attitude in the learning process is very good, with value of 3.625 and 3.675 respectively; Mastery of teaching materials and learning process is quite good with values of 3.475 and 3.575 respectively. While the evaluation aspect is quite good with value of 3.5375 and the ability to close learning is good with value of 3.4.
