Abstract

. Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by the mosquito vector Aedes aegypti. Jf not treated quickly, it can develop into a lethal hemorrhagic disease. The study was conducted with across-sectional desigen aimed to determine the relationship ofknowledge and attitudes of community leaders to its role in the control of dengue fever in Kawalu Public Health Centre Tasikmalaya City. The study population is all public jigures who are in the Kawalu Public Health Centre, with asample size of 68 respondents. Sampling technique was purposive sampling. The results were analyzed with chi­square (){2) to see the relationship ofknowledge and attitudes of community leaders to its role in the control of dengue fever. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between knowledge of the role of community leaders in the control of denguefever (p = 0.578), as well as the attitude ofno significant relation to the role of community leaders (p = 0.177). The role of society is not based on the knowledge and a positive attitude, or a positive attitude and know it but not yet reflected in its role in the control of dengue fever; may be one cause of the dengue fever problem is difjicult of resolve so far. Health care workers are expected to approach and jield studies in more depth so that people contribute more significantly in the con~olofdenguefever.
