Debates about poverty measurement are often rooted on quantitative and qualitative approach. From gender perspective, both has its weakness and strength. In many cases, the synergy of both approaches is proven to be more advantageous in understanding women's poverty. statistical data on the high gure of women's poverty, for example, could be better explained through ethnographic approach that exposes how gender relation, social cultural construction, and gender inequity have caused their limitation of health, education, and decision making access. synergy of approaches facilitates understanding of poverty as well as alleviation effort.
