The experiment was conducted in the Screenhouse of Indonesian Tropical Fruit Research Institute, Solok during January to December 2003, and arranged in a 7 x 2 factorial design with 3 replications. The first factor was related species of garcinia which consisted of Garcinia celebica, G. dulcis, G. phicorrhiza, G. porrecta, G. mangostana, kandis Pariaman, and kandis Aripan. While the second factor was grafting model i.e. cleft grafting and approach grafting. The variables observed were persentage of successful grafting, plant height, leaf number, leaf area, stem diameter, and plant dry weight. The results showed that the growth of mangosteen seedling with double rootstock was better than mangosteen seedling with single rootstock, except double rootstock using G. pichorrhiza and kandis Aripan. Meanwhile, approach grafting model was better than cleft grafting in accelerating the growth of mangosteen seedling.
