This research aims to explain the performance of HR function through the implementation of management audit at the human resource department of PT. XYZ Indonesia – Medan which include the functions of recruitment-selection-orientation, learning and development, job performance appraisal, and employee termination. The research method used is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Data collection method that is used are interview and documentation. The approach used in auditing is compliance audit and risk-based audit. Research result showed that the overall HR functions have been run in accordance to the SOP, however there are some points in SOP that are not implemented in each of the functions studied. Based on the audit findings, the recommendations that can be given are cooperation procurement by the company with educational institution or employee provider for recruitment at the remote area, providing socialization for the objective of filling the Performance Appraisal (PA) to increase the employee's awareness in filling the PA at mid-year, and doing tracking to the supervisor of the employee who is about to have retirement in proposing the extension of the employment's contract.
