. Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that often occurs in people who lack good hygiene. Leprosy is often found in hot climates, the disease primarily affects the nerves and skin. Leprosy patients in Indonesia in 2012 as many as 23 169 and the number 2 level of disability among new cases as many as 2,025 people or 10.11%. If compared to the year 2011 there was an increase that number reached 20 023 cases of leprosy patients. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of olive oil in the prevention of skin damage in patients with leprosy. This research design using quasy experimental research design using pre-test and post-test design. The study was conducted at the health center Buaran Pekalongan in 2012. The sampling technique in this study using purposive sampling technique totaling 35 respondents. Data collection tool used is the observation checklist sheet before and after using olive oil. The result showed 93.3% of leprosy patients did not experience skin damage after the administration of olive oil and 6.7% of leprosy patients who still experience skin damage. Prevention of skin damage leprosy patients can be done at home by yourself with diligent care.
