Isolation of Antioxidant Compounds of Methanol Extract of Nutmeg Leaves (Myristica Fragrans Houtt)

.The antioxidant activity from methanol extract of nutmeg leaves (Myristica fragrans Houtt) was performed using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH). Antioxidant assay using DPPH of the methanol extract at a concentration of 25 ppm, 50 ppm and 100 ppm, showed high antioxidant activity with IC50 = 36.31 ppm and Vitamin C showed antioxidant activity with IC50 = 3.657 ppm. The methanol extract of nutmeg leaves were partitioned with chloroform to obtain chloroform extract of the leaves with IC50 = 28.30 ppm. isolation of the active compounds from the chloroform extract of the nutmeg leaf using column chromatography yielded 6 mix fractions MFMD 1, MFMD 2, MFMD 3, MFMD 4, MFMD 5 and MFMD 6. The test results of antioxidant activity in very strong category is fractions MFMD 4, MFMD 3, MFMD 2, MFMD 6 and MFMD 5 with IC50 of each are 26.590 ppm, 27.239 ppm, 29.639 ppm, 39.766 ppm and 55.436 ppm, while antioxidant activity in a weak catagory is fraction MFMD 1 with IC50 is 126.270 ppm. This shows that the fraction of the leaf has a better inhibitory activity, because some of the active compound contained in the fraction can synergize in inhibiting free radicals, so that the IC50 value of the fraction is stronger than the extract.

Uji Efektivitas Sediaan Gel Fraksi Etil Asetat Daun Jambu Biji (Psidium Guajava Linn) Terhadap Penyembuhan Luka Terbuka Pada Mencit (Mus Musculus)

Guava leaf has various benefits, one of them is accelerating the healing process of a wound. This study aims to formulate the ethyl acetate fraction into a gel form and test the effectiveness of gel formulation toward open wounds in 16 male mices (Mus musculus) which made excision 1 cm circular full thickness wound on the back of mice parallel with Os. vetebra. The ethyl acetate fraction of guava leaf has been made into concentrations of 5% and 7% with base gel used as negative control and Bioplacenton as positive control. The evaluation towards ethyl acetate fraction gels showed the gels have green-yellow color, guava odor, homogenous, relevant pH to the skin 6,31-6,51, and spread over 2,8-3 cm (stiff gel). The gels were applied onto the wounds twice a day for about 21 days. The observation was conducted every day towards the scab formation day, scab chipped day, and wound healing day. The data were analyzed statistically using one way ANOVA then continued with Tukey test. The average day for scab formation, scab chipped, and wound healing process, successively are in the negative control i.e. 6,50 ; 13,50 ; 20,25, then positive control of 3,75 ; 11,00 ; 17,25, for gel with 5% concentration, 3,75 ; 9,75 ; 16,50, and gel with 7% concentration, 4,50 ; 12,00 ; 18,25. The statistical result showed that the ethyl acetats fraction could accelerate the scab formation (p<0,05) and the open-wound healing (p<0,05) in mice than the control negative (p<0,05), but not in the scab exfoliation (p>0,05). Gel concentration 5% accelerated faster in forming the scab, flaking off the scab, and healing the wound compared with the gel concentration of 7%.

Interpretasi Potensi Massa Longsoran Dengan Metoda Geolistrik(Studi Kasus Daerah Gayo Lues)

One indication of a potential landslide area is a formation along the slip field slope. The slope is formed due to the difference between the cover layers (top soil) with a layer beneath it. The top layer is usually a layer of soil that passes the water so that it could be easily infiltrated into the slope. However, rain water infiltrated into the soil or are often not able to enter deeper into the ground because there is an impermeable layer which forms the slope area. Geoelectric resistivity method is generally used for shallow exploration, approximately to depth of 300 to 500 meter. The principle of the method is that the electrical current injected into the earth through two current electrodes, while the potential difference that occurs is measured through two potential electrodes. From the results of measurements of currents and electric potential difference can be obtained by variation of value of electrical resistivity in the layer below the measuring point. The resistivity value can show the bedding soils and on which one is the layer of slip field. From this study we expected the resistivity 2D cross section that shows the depth and dimensions of the field of slip on the slope studied so as to provide recommendations on the appropriate method of stabilizing slopes.
