Abstract

Analysis and application of piston pumps and windmills for seawater circulation system in the salt ponds is done with a windmill design conditions of the flat plate-type trapezium is a rotor diameter of 2.25 m is used as the driving piston pumps single working system that stride length of 12 cm and a diameter of cylinders 2.5 inch PVC pipe material for seawater circulation in the salt ponds with pump discharge of 0.5 liters/sec. Analysis pumps and windmills to be known torque characteristics of the system that has been installed. In this study, the procedure to calculate the parameters of the windmill and pump design is based on the optimization of torque supplied windmill and the pump torque required. The results showed the initial torque required to drive the pump wheel is 21.4 Nm, is smaller than that produced by the windmill 30.1 Nm, which means the pump has been working on the blade tip speed ratio of 0.7 and a wind speed of 2.7 m/s.
