Many factors can affect student achievement such as learning independence and confidence. In order to influence the two variables can be known then conducted research by applying scientific learning. The objective of the research are: (1) to know and explain the influence of scientific learning on the development of learning independence, and student selfconfidence, (2) to describes the influence of learning independence and selfconfidence in the ability to solve mathematical problems, (3) to explain things between the variables of learning independence and selfconfidence that dominant influence on ability. The research was conducted to 25 students of mathematics educator candidate. The method used is combination research (mixed method) which produces qualitative and quantitative data. Data obtained by questionnaire and test were analyzed by gain test (g) and Ngain, test speed. Concluded: (1) effective scientific learning model to increase selfreliance learning, and confidence. (2) the independence and selfconfidence variables together with the contribution of 68.7 percent, (3) Partially contribution selfreliance learn 26,1 percent second selfconfidence 33,2 percent to improve ability.
