The Use of Collaborative Reading Strategies in Fiction Reading Learning

Abstract

This classroom action research is motivated by the existence of problems in learning Indonesian in elementary schools, especially in grade V. Learning Indonesian in elementary schools is still not good, and the learning tends to be conventional. This research was conducted to determine and increase the activity and ability of students to read in a better direction. The data collection technique was carried out using instruments: observation sheets, interviews, and field notes, test sheets, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative and quantitative approaches. From the resulting data, it shows an increase in reading comprehension activity of fiction. The increase is calculated from the average difference between cycle I and cycle III. To be more detailed, in cycle I the assessment of reading and cycle activities increased by 21%, and in cycle II and cycle III it increased by 9%. Meanwhile, from the final evaluation, there was an increase in the average score of students in cycle and cycle II getting an average -The average was 9%, and in cycle II and cycle III students experienced an increase of 12%. From the descriptive analysis it was found that there was a change in reading learning activities. Learning activities became more active, creative, and fun. Thus, from the two data analyzes shows that the Shared Reading strategy has a positive influence on, namely, it can increase reading activity and reading comprehension skills.
