Abstract

Cesarean section is an effort to expel the fetus through operative obstetric measures. WHO (2010) states that around 10-15% in developing countries carry out labor in sectio caesarea. The increase in caesarean section is directly propotional to the incidence of surgical site infections, obtained rates of surgical site infections. Appropriate treatment to prevent infection of surgical wounds is prophylactic antibiotics. This study aims to determine the pattern of prophylactic antibiotic use and the rationality of prophylactic antibiotic use in sectio caesarea patients by looking at the suitability of antibiotic use based theory and general guidelines for the use of prophylactic antibiotics for sectio caesarea. The research method uses descriptive method through retrospective data retrieval using medical records of sectio caesarea patients in hospitals Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD Atambua in 2018. Data analysis in the form of a description of patient characteristics and patterns of Prophylactic antibiotic use as well as compliance with guidelines and gyssens methods. The results obtained from a total 84 patients using prophylactic antibiotics showed a pattern of  prophylactic antibiotic use, namely ceftriaxone injection 1g intravenously and time of administration <1 hour with a percentage of  100%. Suitability of use of  prophylactic antibiotics include the right drug, right dose, right route, right time of administration said to be raight / appropriate and rationality based on the Gyssens method of 9% category VI, 7% category V, and 84% that meet category 0 with criteria for the use of antibiotic precisely/rationality.   Keywords : Sectio caesarea, prophylactic antibiotic
