Arabic Teachers Association of Indonesia is a professional organisation for Arabic teachers and was first established on 9 December 1998 during a meeting at Universitas Negeri Malang, attended by representatives from Fakultas Sastra Universitas Negeri Malang, Fakultas Adab IAIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, and Fakultas Sastra UGM Yogyakarta.
