Abstract

Many medications prescribed for infants and children are not available in the desired dosage form so many prescription medications are prescribed. Compounding is often associated with medication errors / problems with treatment errors. This study was conducted to determine the pattern of paleer prescribing for pediatric patients and the availability of drug formulas for pediatric patients prescribed based on MIMS, ISO 2016, and the generic formula list for children at pharmacy in Kupang city 2015 period. The prescribed medicinal type was also evaluated based on EML for Children 2007 to find out the percentage of drugs that should be available for children. This is a cross sectional survey with retrospective data collection. Data analysis included a description of the characteristics of study subjects, drug prescribing patterns, and availability of drug formulas for pediatric patients. The results show that many puyer are prescribed for children (2-11 years). Generally, as many as three active substances are formulated in puyer preparation. Evaluation of the availability of formula for children based on MIMS and ISO indicates that most of the medicines that are formulated are already available for children with trade names and dosage information. From the drug puyer at the apothecary in Kupang city, most of the medicinal items that should have been available are formulas for children based on the list contained in EML for Children 2007
