United Nations (UN)

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently made up of 193 Member States. The mission and work of the United Nations are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. When it was established, the United Nations had 51 member countries; there are currently 193 members. In addition to member countries, several international organizations, and inter-state organizations have a place as permanent observers who have offices at the UN Headquarters, and there are also those who are only observers.
